NC4 and a bit - 2025 Day 6

Started off with a reasonable breakfast. We had high hopes given the amount of money the hotel was, but it was, in fact, adequate and but nothing special. Certainly didn't beat the B&B's breakfast the day before. It was another beautiful day, with warm weather and blue skies. We headed across to Keilder Forrest and not having ridden these before were definitely impressed.
Stopped at a cafe for a quick 'waffer' thin slice of cake and cup of tea and just as we were about to depart, Toby noticed a slight mark on PC's tyre - well it was not a mark at all, but a complete wearing down to the ribbon on the back tyre. How it hadn't blown we didn't know, but now had to find a place for emergency replacement, as there's no way it would make it home - we still had 250 miles to go and several hours riding.
The garage looks a bit rough but they were fantastic - fitted Road 6's and got us on our way - we had to deviate into Newcastle and that was the longest and slowest 24 miles we'd ever ridden.

Decided to blast down the A1 , across to Brough on the A66 and pick up the M6 home. It was a great choice and the riding was lovely all the way.

Despite the slight deviation and danger of a threadbare tyre (that we didn't know about - so in future CHECK), it was a marvellous trip. Thoroughly enjoyed going back to Scotland and the roads, the riding, the stopovers, the company , the food, the drink, the crack were all just excellent!!!

It will be a memorable trip to be sure!!
