NC4 and a bit - 2025 Day 5

Woke up to even more blue skies - so should be a further treat going over the Cairngorms today. Heading to Balmoral and then over the mountains to Glenshee skiing area, before travelling down to Edinburgh via St.Andrews. But first of all - breakfast!!!!!
The breakfast - well that's going to take lot of beating anywhere. It was freshly cooked to your liking with a vast choice that you gave the night before. Everything was just superb! Got chatting to a couple for Idaho in the morning and they, although obviously well travelled, had not experienced a B&B like this one as well!

I know that all breakfasts' look the same, but they do not taste the same - this one was perfecto!!!!! It's the produce they buy, it's the way the eggs are perfectly cooked - the toast (I know it's only bread) but was just perfect! Great coffee, orange juice with ice in it - I could go on, but know you'll get the jist!!
The smoked salmon was an enormous portion, but not too big to over face and Mrs C compared favourably to Fouzi's which is high praise indeed, as Fouzi's breakfasts are renowned!!!
Beautiful ride up to Glenshee - we couldn't stop at Balmoral as the lady booby wouldn't allow us to park the bikes and take a photo!! Ah well not to worry.
Then a coffee overlooking the 18th green at St. Andrews. It's always amazing that you can walk over the golf course of such a famous course and the house of the Royal & Ancient Golf Society - ie the world governing body for golf.

Always have to stop in Queensferry to photo these beauties!!!!

Arrived at Mellvile Castle and we were very excited. The place looks magnificent, very grandiose, set in a big estate with a mile long drive to access. Well bugger us - what a disappointment. The place was "OK" at best. I don't think the staff were trained very well, they didn't have draft beer, despite having a very impressive looking wine list, didn't have Rosè from the French Riviera and who runs out of the house burger!!!!! Very very disappointing!

It was very impressive inside, obviously old and traditional and it was hugely expensive, but we were going to treat ourselves so accepted the cost - maybe our expectations were much higher, due to the amount we were paying and the look of the brochure!

We got all poshed up as well! This is the only place that we put our best clothes on, and really! Didn't need to, as we weren't in a main restaurant, just some normal small pub type place in the cellar! Still can't believe they ran out of burgers and didn't have any Rosè!!!!

Pants Mr Mellville Castle, must do better next time (although I doubt there'll be a next time for us!
